9 Dec 09 -- Ghost Mountain, Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, CA

The ruins of the South home. This homesite is slowly reverting back to nature.

The forerunner of the hippy movement.

The South family was here for 16 years.

They raised three children, living off the land during the Depression in the 1930's on this mountain top in what is now in the middle of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park near Borrego Springs, CA. This site is straight up a narrow winding one mile walking trail from the valley floor. Not much left except crumbling walls, a sun dial, bed springs and a cistern for catching what little water falls in the desert.

The Anza-Borrego Desert State Park’s Visitor Center shows an excellent movie with authentic photos taken by this family while living on this mountain top.

Nov. 25, 09 -- Janet in Slot Canyon, Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, CA

The Slot was just wide enough to wiggle thru -

Backpacks had to be taken off.

Thursday

Nov 09 -- Borrego Springs, CA while attending the Escapees Boondockers BOF Rendezvous

Having fun seeing the USA

Here we are enjoying the November sunshine. This was taken to show friends that live in cold country that there is such a thing as warm sunshine in the middle of Nov. We are in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park near the small town of Borrego Springs, CA
